Hi! I am
Shane Jared Medina Sabado
Web Developer | Web Designer
Hello there, I am Shane Jared Medina Sabado, a Web Developer and a creator of this website. I am glad to share you my portfolio website project, and this is the "Story Behind My Career".
It all started in 2020 when the pandemic arose. Staying at home and doing nothing felt frustrating. My daily routine consisted of waking up late, eating meals, watching TV, doing TikTok dances, and engaging in random activities that made no sense. My parents noticed this and wanted to help me become more productive.
One day, my father introduced me to programming—something I initially disliked. Coding seemed extremely difficult, and I didn’t understand it at all. I wasn’t interested in learning; I just wanted to eat, dance, and lounge around. However, I still paid attention to what my father was teaching, and eventually, curiosity got the better of me.
He started with the basics of HTML, showing me how to display a simple "Hello World" message on a local web server. Seeing it work amazed me! I told him I was excited about the result and wanted to learn more. He then introduced me to colors—how to change the background of a webpage. When I successfully applied it, I felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. That’s when I realized—I wanted to do more!
As time passed, I continued learning HTML—the backbone of every website. This led me to explore CSS, which allows for styling and design. With dedication and patience, I progressed further and eventually started learning JavaScript.
Mastering JavaScript took me three months of consistent effort, studying for about 4–5 hours on weekdays and 3 hours on weekends. I started from the basics and gradually tackled more complex concepts. After gaining confidence, I combined everything—HTML, CSS, and JavaScript—to build fully interactive, user-friendly websites.
At this point, my father encouraged me, saying I was now exploring the deeper aspects of how websites function. That realization made me even prouder of my progress.
After a year of mastering frontend technologies, I decided to expand my knowledge into Frontend, Backend, and Databases. I started learning the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js). With the same level of dedication and perseverance, I built full-fledged web applications, including user registration, login functionality, and CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations. Here’s a link to one of my early projects:→ MERN Course Jobify As technology evolves, I make sure to upgrade my skills. I later delved into Laravel, one of the most popular backend frameworks. After dedicating almost a year to mastering it, I can now develop fully functional websites. This website was built using Laravel 11, Tailwind CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL for the database. I take pride in the fact that I didn’t go to college to learn this—I self-studied for five years to get here. There were moments when I wanted to give up, especially when I encountered errors that took hours, days, or even weeks to fix. But I kept reminding myself: "I can do this. I can solve this. If others can, why can’t I?" Doubt would sometimes creep in: "What if I can’t? What if I just quit programming?" Instead of giving up, I pushed through. And I’m proud that I never quit.My mother played a significant role in my journey. She constantly encouraged me, providing the motivation and courage to continue. I’m incredibly thankful for both my parents—they have always supported and guided me toward the right path.
I’m happy to share my journey with you all. I hope you enjoy my website! If I could leave you with one message, it would be this: Do not give up.
My motto: "Small changes make a big difference."
Every shift in mindset, every little improvement—just keep moving forward.
For every error, there is a solution. For every wrong, there is a right. For every failure, there is success.
And most of all I would like to thank Jehovah, He is my God, all thanks and praise goes to Him.
